We want to welcome you to First United Methodist Church
of Kane. Our Pastors are the Rev. David S. Lake and newly appointed
Rev. Jeffrey Little serving as our Associate and Youth Pastor. We are
very excited about this new appointment as our former Associate and
Youth Pastor, Pastor Craig Smith is now serving full-time at his Mt.
Jewett and Hazel Hurst churches. We are very pleased for Pastor Craig
and wish him the very best in his continuing ministry. We welcome
Pastor Jeff, as he wishes to be called, to our staff and look forward to
the many exciting avenues he will take the youth down. Pastor Jeff is a
recent graduate of Asbury Theological Seminary and also holds an Art
Degree from Edinboro University. He is a cartoonist, with some of his
strips being published, and he is also a caricaturist. It will be
interesting to see what he will do with these talents! Pastor Jeff is
serving the Johnsonburg United Methodist Church as their pastor on a ¾
time basis. He will serve Kane First ¼ time. What a great arrangement!
Our church, nestled in the community of Kane, Pennsylvania,
in the center of the Allegheny National forest, is a warm, friendly
church. We are like family and we want people that come to worship with
us to feel the same way. During the summer months, as with many
churches, our attendance does slack off a bit but our doors are still
open and we are one of few churches that continue our Sunday school
program. Many activities still take place during the summer months with
our youth group just returning from Mission Discovery week held at Grove
City College. Each one asked has stated they had a wonderful
experience. Of course some of the adults look a bit tired but a
wonderful time was had by all in attendance.
As we enter into the month of
September, many of our groups
that took a
vacation
during the summer will start to reassemble. Choirs will be
starting up, our Kids’ Happening after school program will resume and
with August comes the start of another school year here in Kane, PA.
As the days start to get shorter and the air a bit crisper (it seems
that it is always crisp in Kane) we look forward to our annual Fall
Festival that will be held the first weekend in October. Our craft group
gets busy making items in January. This is one devoted group of ladies! Also while working
on items for the Fall Festival this same group of ladies make Memory
Bears. At the present time there are 11 adorable fur bears all
lined up waiting to go to their new homes. This is a wonderful ministry
these women do. They take items such as fur coats, pajamas, grandpa’s
favorite flannel shirt, hunting coats and more that belonged to a loved
one and turn them into the most adorable bears you can imagine. A
lasting memento of a loved one that has gone home to be with their
Lord. What a talented group of ladies!
As you can readily see our church is a busy church, a
growing church and a church full of love. We hope you enjoy browsing
through our website and we also hope that if you are ever up in the
woods that you will stop in to see us, worship with us, and take with
you a piece of the love and friendship that we have to offer – to you.
Any questions? Please call our church office

have.
God’s blessings be with you.
